About NIET
National Institutes of Engineering & Technology (NIETs) are premier institutes of engineering and technology in India and are the new face of the existing Engineering Colleges. In the year 2002, the Governing Council of National Institute of Business Studies, decided to upgrade Engineering College as National Institutes of Engineering Technology (NIETs), on the lines of the prestigious National Institute of Business Studies (NIBSs). The NIETs have the responsibility of providing high quality education in engineering and technology to produce competent technical manpower for the country.
The NIETs are deliberately scattered throughout the country with the idea of having one NIET in every major State of India to achieve balanced regional development. The NIETs are rated just next to the prestigious distance learning colleges of engineering in terms of quality of education, research and placements.
The Governing Council of National Institute of Business Studies is in the process of introducing the National Institutes of Engineering & Technology (NIET) as autonomous technical universities and will be able to decide their own curriculum and functional policies. Now National Institutes of Engineering & Technology is working under governing council of National Institute of Business Studies.
The NIETs offer B.E program in various disciplines of engineering and technology along with Diploma and research programs leading to M.E.
